"AWAY WITH HIM! CRUCIFY HIM!"

First edition of the Latin-English text of the Passion of Jesus Christ, according to the Four Evangelists. Illustrated with 5 engraved plates by Eric Gill—one for each of the Four Gospels—along with a closing illustration depicting the Resurrection, captioned: "Resurrexit Sicut Dixit Alleluia" ("He has Risen, as He said. Alleluia")

The Passion is read three times during Holy Week: on Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, and Good Friday, as a reminder to us of our own complicity in His betrayal, suffering and death. This slender volume contains the Passions according to Saints Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, as read in the Roman Missal. The Gospels of the Evangelists present four separate accounts of the last days of Jesus Christ but there is significant overlap in the narrative among the first three synoptic Gospels. The Latin text is faced by the English translation, taken from the Rheims New Testament. This Holy Week devotional was part of an edition limited to only 300 copies, printed in a small (pocket) format.
