"THE CAPACITY TO 'FEEL WITH THE CHURCH' HAS ITS SOURCE IN MARY, AND OTHER CHRISTIANS ONLY REALLY RECEIVE THAT GIFT THROUGH HER" First English translation of this collection of Marian meditations by one of the most important lay women theologians of the 20th century. A physician, Von Speyr was received into the Church in 1940 by her fellow Swiss, Hans Urs von Balthasar. She and von Balthasar founded an institute, the Community of St. John, and became close collaborators as von Speyr produced over 60 books. Their relationship was guided by "a kind of Marian spirituality in which the primary theological orientation is receptivity to God's initiative." (Robert Royal, A Deeper Vision). Translated by Alexander Dru. Approbations.
