Splendidly illustrated by Charles Robinson with 16 captioned color plates and black-and-white drawings throughout the text. From a family of distinguished English illustrators, Charles Robinson was the son of Thomas Robinson and brother of Thomas Heath Robinson and William Heath Robinson. After illustrating Robert Louis Stevenson's A Child's Garden of Verses (1895), Robinson illustrated many fairy tales and children's books throughout his career. Printed in England by Alf Cooke of Leeds and first published by T. Fisher Unwin, London. This American edition was issued by Frederick A. Stokes, known for publishing fine art and children's books.
