The Fifteen Mysteries of the Rosary are divided into the Joyful, Sorrowful and Glorious Mysteries: "In the first part, sentiments of joy for the coming of our Redeemer; in the second, of compassion for the sufferings of Our Lord, and the contrition for our sin, which were the occasion of them; in the third , of thanksgiving for the exaltation and glory of our Saviour and of His Blessed Mother." Published for the Society of SS. Peter and Paul by the Church Literature Association and printed with the characteristic ornamentations recalling the pre-war golden age of the SSPP. Pope John Paul II later added the five Luminous Mysteries in his apostolic letter, Rosarium Virginis Mariae (2002). Approbations.
