First edition of this heavily illustrated 1931 guide to Holy Week in Sevilla, Spain. With preliminary essays by Jose Diaz Hernandez and Enrique Gomez Millan tracing the history of the Sevillian school of religious sculpture, supplemented with dramatic black-and-white photographs by M. Murga. The main section of the guide profiles the numerous "Cofradias," the lay brotherhoods and their elaborately costumed penitential processions in and around the Cathedral. With more than 20 color-printed plates depicting the cofradias and dozens of advertisements for commercial establishments in the city. Text in Spanish.
