"WE ARE ABLE TO RISE TO GOD ONLY BECAUSE HE HAS COME DOWN TO SEEK US OUT"

First English translation of the French Jesuit's consideration of the nature of the Church. A professor of Dogma at the Catholic Institute of Paris, Yves de Montecheuil was a spiritual adviser to lay groups such as Catholic Action. During the German occupation of France, he was an editor at the underground Cahiers du Témoignage Chrétien. While ministering to the fighters of the Resistance, de Montcheuil was captured in eastern France and executed by the Gestapo in Grenoble in the summer of 1944. These 12 ecclesiological essays explore the role of the Church in the return of man to God while the final chapters discuss the Church's relationship to the World. First published in France in 1951, Aspects of the Church was the third book of Montcheuil's published in America by Fides. Translated by Albert J. La Mothe, Jr. with an excellent example of the original dust jacket designed by Clarence E. Geise. Approbations.
